Dear Students and Families of the SLC Ballet,
It is our pleasure to announce the official venue and date of the SLC Ballet's Spring Gala:
Hayes-Christensen Theater, May 26th 2012
2pm (matinee) and 7:30pm
*2pm matinee performance includes: Pre-Ballet, Introduction to Ballet A& B, Creative Dance and Act II (Le Corsaire)
*7:30pm evening performance includes: Grade 1, 2, and 3, Character Dance, Jazz and Act II (Le Corsaire)
The first act will showcase each level in their own dance, specially choreographed to the students’ level by the teachers Hillary and Terry. This section of the evening will showcase ‘the end product’, the result of hard work we’ve put in this year. All enrolled students are invited to perform.
The second act of the performance will present the scene, Le Jardin Animé, and excerpts from the famous ballet Le Corsaire, staged by Terry Davis. Due to the large amount of choreography to be learned and the demanding level of technique required, only the Grade 1, 2, and 3 students who meet the requirements are invited to perform in the ballet. (Grade 1 and 2 students must attend minimum of 2 ballet technique classes per week. Grade 3 students must take minimum of 3 ballet technique and pointe classes per week.) This section will also feature SLC Ballet company dancers and additional dancers of high caliber.

•All dancers participating in Act I will wear their level leotard color, pink tights and ballet shoes. Pre-ballet and Intro A& B will wear the class tutus. Grade 1-3 will rent chiffon skirts. Please see the attached form, “Spring Gala 2012 fees.pdf”.

End of Year Performance - Marushka & the Twelve Months
photos by: Maya Christensen; Maya Christensen Photography
Please enjoy these photos from our previous performances!
Marushka & the Twelve Months was a touching fairytale performed by both our students and advanced performers for 2010’s end of year production. At SLC Ballet, we understand the importance of performance ability and experience for all our students at all ages and strive to impart our students the most practical knowledge of stagecraft from the beginning to the end of their classical technique training. Our academy believes even the smallest plié and tendu eventually leads to a spectacular pas de deux or soaring saut de chat across the stage; therefore, we foster familiarity with performance skills at all levels daily.
Sincerely,
Mattie, Hillary & Terry
